This document is an update of the original guide which was first published
in 2000. Since then, two factors have made revision of the original publication
desirable. The first is the implementation of the Mental Capacity Act (2005) in
England and Wales, and secondly the court judgements that have helped define the current
legal position more precisely.
The revised document describes the obligations and responsibilities of those
who attempt to resuscitate victims of sudden cardiac arrest.
