Question:
(1)   I am not an RC(UK) approved course centre - can I run the ILS course?

Answer:
No. Only RC(UK) approved course centres can run the ILS course. You can apply to be approved as an ILS course centre, provided your organisation belongs to one of the following categories: NHS Trusts, Primary Care Trusts, Universities that train healthcare professionals, Private Hospitals and Phase 1 Clinical Trials Units that are inspected by the MHRA. Please note that only the above organisations are all eligible to apply to become course centres. For further information regarding the application process please e-mail

Question:
(6)   I want to buy some copies of the course manual but I do not need 25 copies.

Answer:
The manual is available to course centres at a much reduced rate, but in order to offer such a reduction we sell the manual in units of 25 to reduce administrative costs. You can buy less than 25 copies via our publications list, but the cost is higher.

Question:
(14)   How do we obtain ILS certificates for our successful candidates?

Answer:
You need to complete the online ILS course returns form on the RC(UK) website for each ILS course that you run. Our system will generate certificates for successful candidates, and these will be posted to your centre.

Question:
(15)   Can our certificates be sent to two or more different addresses?

Answer:
No. Certificates are always sent to the ‘nominated named person’ at the address registered for the course centre.

If a course centre runs ILS courses at multiple sites (e.g. different hospitals within an NHS Trust), they can register one site and should arrange to forward the certificates to the different sites as required.

Alternatively the centre can register each site with its own ‘nominated named person’ and separate address. In this case the registration fee must be paid for each site.

ILSadmin@resus.org.uk for advice.
