Introduction The Executive Committee is keen to attract new contributors to the membership of its committees. At the Annual General Meeting in June 2008, the members present voted unanimously to introduce a change in the Constitution to ensure that the Constitution provides a workable and democratic basis for the operation of the Council’s activities, and that membership is available to a wide range of people interested in resuscitation.
There are two categories of membership: Full Membership
and Associate Membership.
What does membership give me?
Full membership Applicants for full membership must complete the full membership application form and submit this together with the first annual payment of £25. The Honorary Secretary and Director of the Council shall review all applications. All valid applications that meet the membership criteria will be ratified by the Executive Committee at their next meeting. The Executive Committee convenes three times a year and therefore payment for full membership is not processed until your application has been ratified.
Successful applicants will be sent confirmation of membership together with
a standing order mandate form for future payment.
Associate membership Applicants for associate membership must complete the associate membership application form and submit this together with the first annual payment of £20. The Honorary Secretary and the Director of the Council will examine all applications on behalf of the Executive Committee and notify applicants whether or not they have met the criteria for associate membership. Successful applicants will be sent confirmation of membership together with a standing order mandate form for future payment. Associate members who are registered healthcare providers and who have demonstrated exceptional ability in and commitment to resuscitation beyond that normally expected of their employment may apply for full membership (by completing and submitting a full membership application form) after a minimum period of one year as an associate member.
Associate members may attend and speak at Annual General Meetings, but shall not be eligible to vote
at such meetings and shall not be eligible for election to the Executive Committee.
Further information Currently there is no arrangement for new members to receive joint membership between the Resuscitation Council (UK) and ERC. Individuals wanting to join the ERC and receive the journal Resuscitation should contact the ERC (www.erc.edu).
