Daisy Ridley - Actress

Daisy Ridley

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, actress Daisy Ridley featured in our interactive film Lifesaver, written and directed by BAFTA/Emmy nominee Martin Percy.

Lifesaver is a live-action movie you play like a game and shows you how to save someone's life. It throws you into the heart of the action, changing what happens in movies showing real people in real places.

Here, Daisy explains why the role was so important to her, why she regularly re-watches Lifesaver and encourages her friends and family to do the same.

Help Daisy to save a life in Lifesaver

You featured in our interactive film Lifesaver which teaches people how to perform CPR, why was this role particularly important to you?
This role was particularly important to me as my godfather had suffered a cardiac arrest some time before, and his life was saved because there was someone with the knowledge to use the right CPR techniques on him.

Did you have any knowledge of basic life support (BLS) before filming Lifesaver?
I had some knowledge but I didn’t feel like I was equipped to put that into practice if needed.

What would you say to someone thinking that CPR is 'scary or difficult'?
There is no doubt that having to use CPR in real life would be daunting, but if you know exactly what to do and are thrust into a life threatening situation you would have the tools to help save someone’s life.

Would you encourage your friends and family to play Lifesaver?
I would definitely encourage everyone to watch Lifesaver. Real situations dealt with quickly and calmly with the viewer making the decisions, will help develop the skills and confidence people may already have in CPR.

If you witnessed a cardiac arrest in the street would you feel confident to follow what you learnt on Lifesaver?
I certainly would. It isn’t the kind of thing you learn once, I watch Lifesaver every few months to remind myself what to do if such a situation arose.

Why do you think the work of the Resuscitation Council (UK) is so important?
The Resuscitation Council are not only saving lives, but giving other people the tools to help save lives too. How much more important could something be!
