Dr John Restall
John Restall was a consultant anaesthetist who spent much of his professional career in the Royal Army Medical Corps. In 1983, in his capacity as senior anaesthetist of the British Armed Forces in Germany, he was made an Officer of the Order of St John for the teaching and training of resuscitation of casualties in peace and war. In 1986 he was appointed Consultant Adviser in Anaesthetics and Resuscitation to the Army in the rank of Brigadier and in 1987 was invited to become a member of the Resuscitation Council (UK) by Dr Tom Evans. He was elected to the Executive Committee and was appointed Treasurer in 1991. He served as Treasurer for nine years and was involved in the setting up of the Charity with the Charity Commission and the move of premises from Fitzroy Square to Tavistock House North. Funds were prudently and carefully managed and he is proud of the fact, that from a small acorn, a very large oak tree has grown.
