Ken Spearpoint is a nurse consultant in resuscitation and a principal lecturer in medical simulation. His expertise covers critical care and resuscitation practice. He has a developing interest in human factors in crisis resource management. Ken has been a resuscitation officer since 1992. In 2003, he was the inaugural chair of the Council for Professionals as Resuscitation Officers and continues to support the recognition and professional development of resuscitation officers. He has a long association with the Resuscitation Council (UK), directing and instructing on the ILS, ALS, NLS and GIC courses over many years. He is currently a member of the National Cardiac Arrest Audit steering group. Ken has an established research and publication portfolio and his doctoral thesis is a qualitative study into patients’ experiences of recovery from cardiac arrest. To this end he is committed to patient-centred improvements in the quality of survival from cardiac arrest.
