Addendum  This addendum is to be read in conjunction with the Automated External Defibrillators section of the Guidelines. It relates to the guidance on AED use by trained lay first responders appearing on page 25.

The following correction applies to the Paediatric Basic Life Support chapter of the Guidelines.

Page 71. Infant and child BLS sequence.
The third bullet point should read:
  • Compress the chest by approximately one-third of its depth. Use two fingers for an infant under 1 year; use one or two hands for a child over 1 year as needed to achieve an adequate depth of compression.

Please note that throughout the Guidelines the masculine is used to denote the masculine or feminine.
