Restart A Heart Day

The Restart a Heart campaign (RSAH) is an annual initiative led by the Resuscitation Council (UK) in partnership with The British Heart Foundation, British Red Cross, St John Ambulance, and Yorkshire Ambulance Service which aims to improve the low numbers of people surviving out-of-hospital cardiac arrests.

On and around Wednesday 16 October 2019, an alliance of organisations all over the world will be coming together to increase public awareness of cardiac arrests and increase the number of people trained in life saving CPR by organising and facilitating training events.

This is the sixth annual Restart a Heart campaign and the second annual World Restart a Heart (WRSAH) campaign.

In order to ensure we’ve got the numbers for all people trained, we are asking those of you who plan to host training outside of that planned by an ambulance service to inform us by filling in a short survey  with the planned numbers from your event.

Here's how you can get involved

We are encouraging all schools who want to take part in World Restart a Heart to first contact your NHS ambulance service. You can find your local service on our map, and then obtain their contact details below.
You may also host your own event independently from the emergency services. If you are running an independent event, please fill out our short survey to let us know about your plans.

Independent training providers

We’d love for any CPR training provider to get involved with Restart a Heart. We have a guide which will help you. We’d  like to ensure your activity is recorded and your numbers are part of the final total, so please do fill out the short survey about your plans.

Community groups, sports clubs and workplaces

There’s no restriction on the activity you want to do for Restart a Heart, as long as you are training people in CPR. You can organise your own event at a place and time that suits you in the week leading up to and week after 16 October 2019. Let us know what you’ve got planned and when in our short survey to ensure your numbers count.

Want to help out, but don’t know of any events in your area? Contact your local NHS ambulance service below  to see if there are any CPR training sessions near you that need volunteers.
