£1m has been made available from the Department of Health to make public access defibrillators and CPR training more widely available in communities across England.

This funding follows the Government’s commitment to invest a further £1m to improve defibrillator availability as announced in the March 2016 Budget.

The funding will be distributed by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) which is supported in the management of this project by a network of charities and organisations concerned with improving the UK’s low survival rate from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, including Arrhythmia Alliance, the Resuscitation Council (UK), the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives, NHS England and the Department of Health.

Applications can be made through the BHF’s website from 11th November 2016
