Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) welcomes the publication of the COVID‑19 Inquiry’s Module 3 report and its focus on improving planning and decision‑making around cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and emergency care planning. RCUK presented recommendations to the inquiry in October 2024.

In April 2022, Richard Moore was taking on the Blackpool Marathon for the second time, determined to beat his previous best and finish in under four hours. For most of the race, everything was going exactly to plan. But just 400 metres from the finish line, he experienced a cardiac arrest and collapsed.

Professor Gavin Perkins MBE, President of the Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK), has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual meeting of the American Heart Association (AHA). 

This refreshed resource supports national efforts to improve access to defibrillators and provides practical guidance for anyone responsible for a device in their community. It has been designed to help individuals, communities, and organisations ensure that their device is installed, maintained, and emergency rescue ready.
