Paul’s Legacy was established in 2021 following the sudden loss of Paul Murray, who suffered a cardiac arrest at home. Since then, the organisation has been dedicated to raising awareness of heart conditions, increasing access to heart screenings, and ensuring more defibrillators are available, accessible, and registered within the local community.

Thanks to a £1,500 grant from Resuscitation Council UK, the Sandwell African Caribbean Mental Health Foundation (SACMHF) successfully delivered vital resuscitation training to young people in Birmingham.

Donegall Pass Community Forum has been working to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in the Inner South Belfast Neighbourhood Renewal Area - one of the most deprived areas in Northern Ireland. With high levels of heart disease and poor general health in the community, access to CPR and defibrillation training is vital.

One morning, BBC News presenter Rich Preston was at home when his phone sounded a loud alarm. It was an emergency alert from the GoodSAM app, telling him that one of his neighbours was having a cardiac arrest.

Morgan MacRae, a 23-year-old Rams Rugby player, made a return to the field just months after experiencing a cardiac arrest. The incident occurred while MacRae was at home and came without warning. His heart stopped suddenly, leaving him unresponsive and fighting for his life. MacRae’s girlfriend was the first to respond, initiating CPR until paramedics arrived.
