Our vision and values

Our vision

Resuscitation Council UK’s core mission is to ensure that everyone who has a cardiac arrest has access to appropriate cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

We'll achieve this by ensuring that:

  • comprehensive training is delivered across clinical, care and public settings, based on research and evidence
  • cardiac arrest survival matches world-leading comparators
  • everyone affected by cardiac arrest receives appropriate, personalised support
  • we tackle inequalities in resuscitation.

We believe these goals are best delivered through the formula of survival: research, education and implementation, supported by public awareness and policy change.

This will enable:

• the best possible outcomes for patients
• the best possible outcomes for those affected by cardiac arrest
• meaningful progress in addressing inequalities.

  • We set the highest standards of clinical expertise in resuscitation and are committed to continual improvement.
  • We create trusted, evidence-based resources; improving outcomes from cardiac arrest.
  • We give people the confidence they need to help save lives.

To me, being an expert means applying evidence, insight, and professional judgement to create trusted resources that empower people to make informed decisions and achieve the best possible outcomes.

Naomi Reeves, Clinical Lead

  • We act with care and sensitivity to all those who been impacted by cardiac arrest.
  • We listen with empathy, recognising the individual to inform how we educate and advocate.
  • We support our people and remain responsive to the changing needs and expectations of our audiences.

To me, compassion means treating everyone with kindness, fairness, and respect. I believe in listening to people with empathy, understanding their individual needs, and supporting them so they feel valued.

Lorraine McLarty, HR Manager

  • We value the richness of diversity and ensure everyone feels respected and valued.
  • We create an environment that supports people to work at their best.
  • Through training, resources and awareness we work to reduce inequalities in resuscitation.

Inclusivity means making sure everyone feels they belong. I believe in respecting what makes people unique, listening to their perspectives, and helping to create an environment where everyone feels supported to thrive.
