Become a Basic Life Support Instructor

BLSi has been created to empower anyone who is already trained in Basic Life Support (BLS), to deliver effective, confidence-inspiring and inclusive teaching to a high standard. Get BLSi trained this Restart a Heart for your event!

Restart a Heart Live

You can make the difference by joining Restart A Heart Live - a free live-streamed CPR event taking place on Thursday 1 October 2026, 09:00 - 19:00, starting on the hour every hour. Building on the Guinness World Record success of 2024, this is now a UK-wide event.

Anyone can register to take part, and it’s a fun, accessible way for primary and secondary schools to get students of all ages learning this lifesaving skill. No equipment is required. All you need is a cushion, jacket in a bag or teddy and 25 minutes of your time.

Join this nationwide effort to get as many people trained in CPR as possible, helping our communities to look after one another.

Our lesson plan will help you ensure your students have the confidence and skill to identify a cardiac arrest and attempt to save a life with skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation.

St John Ambulance’s free resources and lesson plans have been developed to support teaching first aid as part of health education. The resources are organised in teaching pathways for Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3, and Key Stage 4, and outline a recommended order for teaching the different first aid topics to pupils.

British Red Cross First Aid Champions

A new first aid teaching site for learners aged 5-18. First aid education is now on the RSE and health curriculum in England, and First Aid Champions can be used by all schools in the UK to teach the skills children and young people need to save a life.
